06 Aug 2009

Megaphone Project's film "Beyond Debate: Education Rights of Homeless Students" will be screened at the Baltimore Women's Film Festival, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 25th at Landmark's Harbor East Theatre in Baltimore. It's being showcased with other entries at 2:15pm during the "Films Set in Baltimore" section. We hope to see you there!

"Beyond Debate" is a film we produced for the Public Justice Center. It has been such a success that we're now raising funds for a Spanish language version of the film (hint hint).

Megaphone Project Documents Red Line Trip

05 Jul 2009

When plans for Baltimore's Red Line were announced, many citizens were concerned about the impact the new light rail would have on their lives and communities. Especially residents of the west side neighborhoods that were devastated by the Road to Nowhere, which was built decades ago during less enlightened times.
"Baltimore's Red Line and Transit Around the Nation II" documents how far we have come, locally and nationally, in engaging the community in transportation planning. In September, 60 Baltimore residents traveled to Seattle, Portland, L.A. and Phoenix to learn the benefits and pitfalls of light rail projects built in other cities. Their mission: bring back best practices to strengthen Baltimore's Red Line.
"Baltimore's Red Line" was produced by Megaphone Project for the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance. The film was screened on  July 8 at the Enoch Pratt Central Branch at 400 Cathedral Street in Baltimore.

Megaphone Project Launches Farmers Market Video Project

20 Jun 2009

The Megaphone Project and the 32nd Street Farmers Market in Waverly are collaborating on a video:
  • to raise awareness of the benefits of eating healthy, local food
  • to generate more business for the farmers, especially from community residents within walking distance who have never shopped at the market, and
  • to generate awareness and revenue for Megaphone Project.
The farmers, vendors, and Megaphone Project need community support to make this project a success. There are many ways you can help.

Free Grassroots Video Distribution Guide!

20 Jun 2009

The Do-It-Yourself Media Distribution Field Guide is yours for the downloading at creativealliance.org/camm/distro_guide.pdf

We created this guide to help independent videomakers navigate the dizzying array of distribution companies, websites, and resources that seem to pop up and die out on a weekly basis. Get tips on how to get your video into the collections of local libraries. Learn how to use order fulfillment companies. And lots of other cool stuff . . . for free!

Funding for this distribution guide was provided by the Betty Lee & Dudley P. Digges Memorial Fund and created in collaboration with the Creative Alliance at the Patterson, Kids on the Hill and Wide Angle Youth Media.

The Megaphone Project

Megaphone Project amplifies the voices of under-served communities and those who advocate for them in order to increase political access, inspire action and create social change. We accomplish this through message development, media production, and targeted media distribution.
